Technology integration specialist International educator Educational game designer Accomplished Musician
I am currently a teacher of design at an International Baccalaureate school in Minnesota. I completed a Master of Arts in Educational Technology in May of 2017. As part of this degree, I completed three Games and Meaningful Play courses, which trained me for educational game and gamification design.
I have 13 years of experience teaching in the United States and abroad. I've taught in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
In my 6 years with Kimberly High School in Kimberly, Wisconsin, I taught vocal music and built an extremely large and successful choral program. I oversaw 7 choirs, administered voice lessons, taught music theory courses, and music directed over 12 theatrical productions. The quality and frequency of performances increased greatly under my leadership, as did the confidence and abilities of my individual singers. I also completed two seasons as head coach of the varsity men’s soccer team.
During my 5 years abroad, I grew in my abilities to flexibly work with a broad range of skill levels, nationalities, and cultures. As chairman of the Saudi Arabian Intra-Kingdom Music Association, I planned and implemented 9 international music festivals and trips to Europe, Asia and other Middle Eastern countries. My travels have given me a strong appreciation both for foreign cultures, and for my own midwestern roots and values
As someone that grew up during the 1990's, I find that I am in a uniquely ideal position to guide learners of all ages toward greater command of 21st century skills. I came to ubiquitous digital technology young enough to have a natural understanding and command of it, but old enough to still have one foot in the industrial mindset of the 20th century. I can easily shift between old and new understandings, and have a deep empathy for both.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime
